Wills

We can advise you in relation to the careful drafting of your Will to ensure that the property you have acquired throughout your lifetime goes to who you wish and that your dependants are provided for.

It is neither time consuming nor particularly costly to make a Will, and contrary to some superstitions it won’t kill you! We are happy to arrange home visits to take Will instructions as we appreciate clients, particularly the elderly, can find it difficult to travel to see us.

Increasingly the rise in the value of houses has left people in a position where they need to consider the implications of Inheritance Tax (IHT). This is a very complex area but the careful drafting of a Will can help to reduce the amount of IHT.

Financial Planning during your lifetime should also be carefully considered if IHT is an issue for you. Indeed it might be said that this area is now more important from a tax point of view than the Will itself. Hunt & Co can refer you to specialists in this area with whom we then co-ordinate to ensure your Will meets your needs.

Wills can only deal with your affairs after death. It is often appropriate to consider making and Enduring Power of Attorney in conjunction with your Will to deal with situations arising during your lifetime. Please see our section on Attorneys for further details.
